The Challenge-
Create an environmental playground for children
in Danbury's premier city park
- Create a place for
children to interact with nature in a manner that promotes fun and
education

The 1 acre site contained two eutrophic man-made ponds and an unkempt
meadow area
The Plan
- Extensive research including asking
children to draw their ideal garden
- Close cooperation
with the City of Danbury Public Works Department

A garden concept based on the children’s book “Where the Wild Things
Are”
The Result
- A garden used for story telling events,
school trips or family outings

Children delight in hunting for the troll, frogs, butterflies or
dragonflies
- Revitalized ponds and a showcase addition
to the park
