The Challenge
  • Create an environmental playground for children in Danbury's  premier city park
  • Create a place for children to interact with nature in a manner that promotes fun and education
  • The 1 acre site contained two eutrophic man-made ponds and an unkempt meadow area

The Plan

  • Extensive research including asking children to draw their ideal garden
  • Close cooperation with the City of Danbury Public Works Department
  • A garden concept based on the children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are”

The Result

  • A garden used for story telling events, school trips or family outings
  • Children delight in hunting for the troll, frogs, butterflies or dragonflies
  • Revitalized ponds and a showcase addition to the park
