The Challenge
  • A centerpiece of Danbury’s life and culture from the late 1890’s as Danbury Green needed repair
  • Originally called Fountain Park, it had deteriorated into two mud-filled traffic islands
  • The city direction was only "to clean them up and place a fountain"

The Plan

  • Created collaborative team with the City Planning and Zoning Department and City Engineering
  • Re-create what had been a significant part of Danbury’s history from the turn of the century through World War II
  • Manage the project within a very tight budget

The Result

  • “The Precious Treasure of Danbury” is what the park is now referred to
  • Elmwood Park has become an integral and useful part of the community
  • All work was completed on time and within budget
  • 1999 CTAPA Award Winner
