• State RT. 107 bisected the community in the 50's
• The Village�s main industry, the Gilbert and Bennett Manufacturing Company, closed in the 80's
• The citizens, business owners and Town officials wanted a vision for the revitalization and future of their Village center

  The Plan

• Establish a working group - Redding Town Officials,  the  Georgetown Master Plan Committee, Georgetown business owners, and Georgetown residents
• Create a three-phase plan to address the Village center�s short-term and long-term needs
• Provide a phased approach for funding and implementation

  The Result

• A State grant of $500,000 for a detailed implementation plan for concurrent development of Plan Phases 1 & 2
• A Norwalk River Watershed Initiative grant of $10,000 for cleanup of the Gilbert & Bennett Brook
• A small park  adjacent to the brook with a pedestrian bridge to the restaurants and businesses of Main St.
